There is quiet in the spaces between
a living world formulated in fractals,
lurking narrowly beyond human perception
on the fringes of the monkey mind.

Society screams for attention,
babies howl fitfully while words swirl around
in grownup heads without prejudice;
frenetic chaos filtering to the surface as kinetic energy,
undesirable movements discharged
in a confused emotional morass.

Some thrive on it.

Forests invite us into silent communion
with ancient knowledge registered to our core.
To reclaim the dulcimer vibrations,
tiny hammers gathering dissonant chords
into vibrant rhythmic cadence,
no better means exists than to reclaim silence,
if one can manage it, somewhere near
to nature’s bones.
