The most gentle of men
sits perched on a rock,
casting about for water
generous enough to pull him
out and spit him back
on shore, delighted
as a child.

What does life require
of us but this,
that we discover contentment
in the simple things, acts
of grace which absolve
the criminal mind of man
frustrated by the falsity
of a tie-cinched neck, symbol
of how the West was won.

  1. ‘Me’, in here, all serious; ‘nature’ out there, awaiting my much needed intervention. How laughable? Loved the succinct way you evoked that thought in me, Bela. H ❀

  2. Indeed Bela, ” what does life require of us but this?”…. beautifully written Bela… I have enjoyed the morning, not casting in the sea but digging in the earth.. πŸ™‚ Give me simple any day.. πŸ™‚ ❀

    1. Thank you, Sue. Hawaii’s people and the energy of the place, itself is very simple, soothing and grounded. It’s easy to mellow out after, say, 10 years or so (!!!!) Love to you this day!
