Common Ground

I go down burrowing, a badger unearthing
for the sake of it, a sort of mining known only
to the creature and sometimes the human heart,
the latter less willing to surrender its complexities;

On the surface doves appear to assert territoriality,
the movement stitched to their DNA, do the dance,
wings loosen, shrug and sidle as feathers ruff out;
the pup tracks likewise, older now, more apt to
shake it free than to assert his alpha dominance,
respecting, as may be, the gods that surround him;

Scanning the horizon, a single humpback breaches
fully out of water, distant upright dirigible crashing
again and again, only to propel itself upright nearly
a dozen times before it submerges; sated, it seems,
for the time being;

Sublime teachers all, critters of which we are kin,
bipedal human animals preferring drama over quanta,
emotions, life in the head lands; yet tune in silently
and there you are, come back to the earth, bosom
of creation, return to the senses and simply be.

  1. Loved your muse dear Bela.. Indeed I understand the need to borrow down. I nearly didn’t want to resurface from my interlude from WP. πŸ™‚ then on the Monday of last week when I told myself I must catch up in WP, My whole internet to the house went haywire and wouldn’t work.. Several phone calls later to overseas operatives after numerous we will send a signal down the line LOL.. Still no joy. So had to wait several days for engineers to come out. To tell my that my outside connection had all rusted and needed new what ever..
    So I just thought well, the universe is telling me something.. And I went with the flow..

    Love that you can just look up and see a Whale breaching in the ocean what a glorious site that must be..
    Loved your photo’s And loved that door.. reminds me of going into the secret garden πŸ™‚

    1. Thanks, Sue. I love the secret garden door too! Every time I see it.

      Funny about your internet connection. Honestly, we were a day without electricity due to a storm and it really felt good, that kind of total quiet, no humming from anything, even anything innocuous. I am sure your opportunity was seized upon with as much grace as you could muster. ❣️

      Things are moving so quickly these days, I don’t know how anybody can just stay in that kind of race without taking breaks from all of it. But tthat’s speaking from my own perspective. Glad you allow yourself that downtime! Sending love your way! πŸ₯°
