Dreaming Awake

I had to look twice, glancing
out the kitchen window as the flutter
of a mynah bird’s jet black wings
jogged my vision into memory,
the giant frond of a Queen Emma lily
flung carelessly by a kicking wind,
bent not broken into a shape resemblingΒ
the appendage of a giant blue heron,
yet how could that be, here in Hawaii?

From one shore to the next,
one continent of time sliding
into present tense, images juxtapose
into a full fantasy life, fronds and wings,
shadows of pterodactyls still roaming
the earth, nothing ever really vanishes
as some aboriginal tribes would vouch,
though we can claim obliteration;

Reach back and forward into the now
of memory, let the mind slip and slither,
producing its own version of what
is perceived, and it might astound you
or not; yet how can one explain the impulse
to wander out to affirm, grounding self
in solidarity, or is all but illusion?

  1. Could it be? An illusion which seems real, as real as the dream seems when one is in the middle of one, would then reality lie in the beyond, and do dreams include droplets of that beyond, would then that make dreams more real than this awake illusion…

Your words lead me to wonderful places, Bela. πŸ™‚πŸ€—

    1. Haha, Vidur, I figured if anybody could relate to what I was talking about, it would be you! To me, reality is not a fixed thing. My dreams are as real as waking time, indeed, sometimes they are more real! I think this is what we share in common.

I do know there is a collective agreement on what ‘reality’ is, because otherwise, these people would fly apart at the seams from sheer fright of the possibilities. Whatever works, I guess! Aloha. πŸ™πŸŒˆπŸ’•

      1. It is wonderful to be able to share thoughts on this. I often have vivid dreams…and always wake up fascinated when the content is beyond a consciously experienced memory. There is so much that lies behind the screen, and so much that goes on behind the stage…it is so amazing. Thank you!

      2. SO much! So far, I’ve not mastered flying in this waking life! But I’m open to anything. πŸ˜‚ I love the dreamtime. And yes, much behind the screen. In completely scientific terms, we only use such a small portion of what is available in our minds (thought to exist within the brain, but that’s for another discussion!). Though I do believe that knowledge is expanding rapidly, these days.

        Peace, Vidur. Namaste. ❀

  2. Beautiful Bela… Our imagination and the timelines are merging I feel even more so as our illusionary world merges and morphs… My Dream world of late seems to hold more reality in it than my waking one at the moment..
But then that is not surprising as I am continually trying to escape this reality via my own creative one…. πŸ™‚

Keep Dreaming and creating my friend… And together along with many more we are manifesting our new Earth..

    Much love my friend… ❀ Stay Blessed.. ❀ πŸŒˆπŸ™πŸ˜˜

    1. Yes, we are! Agreed, my dreams are often more resonant and real to me these days. We are so excited for the move, but have not sold the house quite yet. Hoping that happens soon! πŸ™πŸ€žπŸ½πŸ’•β€οΈ

      1. Oh I’ve no doubts your home will soon sell. The home next door to us sold in January, it had been empty since June after my elderly neighbour passed away. So we are looking forward to having a young family next door,
Your home looks fabulous and is waiting for someone to love it. πŸ’•πŸ’“πŸ’•πŸ™
