Wide Open

An avalanche or a rockslide cleaves sharply
from its origins; boulders of perception tumbling,
tumbling, thundering carelessly over terrain
flinching passively; unexpected projectiles
lodging fragments into storied ice;

Millennial madness, and it drives and it falls
as it plummets and crumbles into heaps of rubble
and debris, like emotions or grief lodging
sideways into DNA;

Choreographed over ages too wide and deep
to fathom, mountains draw themselves
down toward the sea; humans carelessly careen
into one another, conductors of orchestrated
imaginings wanting to fasten on,
as the ground slips away, and away.

  1. Wow, to both your poem of words, to the Grandeur of those beautiful photos… Nature often holds us in awe of her magnificence. her power and her beauty… You captured all of her, both her softness, her brilliance, as well as her harsh, stark reality, along with her flowing waters through life..

    Wonderful post dear Bela.. Have a Wonderful New Earth Year.. ❀ πŸ’–πŸ™βœ¨πŸ₯‚

    1. Thanks, my love. I wondered about publishing this post, we’ve had enough ‘harsh’ this year to fill a lifetime and I suspect there’s going to be a bit more, though perspectives are changing, and the clouds are parting in that regard, it seems. Here’s hoping. Thank the Powers that Be, including and most especially thanking Mother Nature for that when it comes to us, personally. If we can’t see those we love, we are surrounded by all of *this.* Blessed we are.

      I will gratefully accept your lovely New Years greeting. Here’s wishing the same to you, and may 2021 bring us all a bit of collective unity if not sanity; may we all turn towards the light and dispel some of the horrid human darkness that has reared its head in this past year. Bless us all! ❀

  2. Grand and tumulus times beautifully written Bela! There’s a chaotic hurtling downhill these days too. May we come to land safely and in tact. πŸ’›πŸ™πŸ’› wishing you all the best for the New Year ahead πŸ₯³

    1. My thanks, Balroop. The light here is extraordinary at times. So different from Hawaii, where the air is imbued with miniscule water droplets. Here it is dry/dry! So taking photographs is fun.

      Many blessings in 2021 to you and yours! Better times would be much appreciated! ❀

  3. The carelessness of humans has created quite a pile of wreckage. And yet…so much wonder still remains. Here’s to a new year of clear blue skies and clear truthful thoughts from our leaders. (K)
